Other wierdness:
>From the ssh session I got in with, I did a telinit 3, and nothing
happened. Then I did a telinit s, and nothing happened. I was counting
on losing my connection at the very least.

I tried kill -HUP on the mingetty on the tty I started X on.

I have a feeling all of the X applications died but left the screen in
graphics mode, so I couldn't see any text. Is there anything I could have
done if that happened?

I guess one more thing I can do is check the motherboard to make sure the
RAM is set to 100MHz and not 133MHz. That would not be good.
