Aha! cdrecord now recognizing my ATAPI CD-RW

After sending my previous message, I had a hunch that my problem was here:

Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=Linux ro root=30c hdd=ide-scsi, max_scsi_luns=1
                                                              ^

And indeed, once I deleted that comma in lilo.conf, rerunning
/sbin/lilo, and rebooting, the CD-RW was recognized at bootup, and
cdrecord -scanbus, not to mention cdrecord -prcap dev=0,0,0, give me
the results I expected.

When I try to burn a CD, I get the "CD/DVD-Recorder not ready" error,
but I may be able to solve this by manually ejecting and reloading the
disk -- once I get home from work.

Sorry to bother y'all....

bridge when an idolator was on it; he said, 'Satan cannot rule two nations [at
once].' Rabbi Yannai would examine [the bridge] and cross." --Shabbat 32a
