cdrecord not recognizing my ATAPI CD-RW

Make sure you load the ide-scsi module before you load the
   cdrom module...

   -derek

Hmm. If I have these statically compiled in, rather than as modules,
is there a way to force Linux to not check for an ATAPI CD-ROM at boot
time? Or do I have to recompile the kernel?

Thanks,
