I've only seen the Beta version, a few months ago, but
it looked really good on an ibook.  It was able to
boot right into the Unix prompt and everything.  

How much of a zealot are you?  You can put versions of
Linux on Macs, though I don't know much about the
laptop versions.  I'd go for it, if I could afford it,
but I'd also wait a little while for things to get
ironed out with OSX and supported programs.
