two questions

Hello,
1.) I recently got my hands on a box that I would like to install FreeBSD
and Solaris 8 on. Can anyone point me to a how-to on the easiest/best way
to go about this? For example, which OS should I install first? What boot
loader should I be using?

2.) I am connected to the internet with Mediaone. I have a sparc station2
on my LAN that just sits there wasting electricity. I would like to turn
this box into a mail/squid/dns/webserver just to get some sys admin practice
other than trying to secure my boxes. Has anyone ever set up a server like
this off their mediaone cable connection? I already have another box set up
with Apache, but can this be done for mail? So people would be able to
access http://whatever.ne.mediaone.net, and also be able to email
oz at whatever.ne.mediaone.net?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

.:oz:.
