rpc.statd error

I probably don't need rpc running... when I started looking in the configuration file, I see a couple instances of rpc...

sunrpc 111/tcp portmapper # RPC 4.0 portmapper TCP
sunrpc 111/udp portmapper # RPC 4.0 portmapper UDP

as well as...

rpc2portmap 369/tcp
rpc2portmap 369/udp # Coda portmapper

Do I need to leave these active for any reason if I'm not utilizing rpc?

tia,
Phil
