The night before Christmas (computer style)

Hi Guys,

I thought you might appreciate this. I found this in alt.fan.roadrunner
news group and this guy lives in Hawaii which is why you see references
to Hawaii. The Penguin for those who don't know is The Linux Icon. Linux
is a unix like operating system.

                                     --Cheers,
                                       Brian

Twas the night before Christmas,
and all on the 'net,
not a soul was stirring,
they all were in debt.

The computers were off,
no surfers did tarry,
and for e-tailers this Christmas,
didn't look too merry.

Alone at my monitor,
my child tucked in bed,
I had a BSOD, (blue screen of death)
that was hurting my head.

When out on the lanai,
there arose quite a clatter,
I hopped out of the desk chair,
to see what was the matter.

I went to the window,
(the one that had not crashed),
I opened the curtain,
and tied the sash.

Out on the lawn,
in the grass (Hawaii has no snow),
stood Bill Gates,
with a penguin in tow.

He stood for a moment,
then came to the door,
with the penguin holding an apple,
bit down to the core.

He knocked, he spoke,
should I let him in my house?
After all, look what he did,
with the click of a mouse.

Well, I opened the door,
nd said, "What's up, Bill?"
"What brings you down
off your money hill?"

He looked at my computer,
still locked up like a drum.
Then looked at the penguin,
and said "Boy, was I dumb."

"Competition, it's good,
I should have embraced,
the open source movement,
and Steve Jobs, not Steve Case."

"So I've come here,
the penguin and me,
and an apple, of course,
to fix the tragedy."

Then he went to my computer,
laid a hand on the case,
stood for several seconds,
then looked me in the face.

"I've done my best, and with any luck,
your machine will run, but not run amok.
I've combined the best of Windows, Linux, and Mac,
and you should be free from the DOS attack."
Then he, and the penguin,
and that strange walking apple,
went out the door,
(but not before grabbing a Snapple).

He got in a car,
labeled "Intel Inside",
closed all the windows,
and started to ride.

And I heard him say to the penguin
as he drove through the sticks,
"Now that that's done,
how about IE for Linux?"
