Mirroring Question

Question: what do people use for mirroring software? All I want to do
is mirror a single directory and update it daily (or hourly). I looked
into rsync, but that's really not the right tool for anonymous ftp
mirroring, and everything I've tried in the past seemed rather
unreliable (if there's a problem they just dump out and don't try to
reconnect until a day later). If anyone has any suggestions (and sample
config files/scripts), I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.
