File+Date rollover figured out

Hello to all:

I'd like to thank all who offered suggestions.  I ended up using the basic
theme, and a little more experimentation, and figured it out:

dateholder=`date '+%m%d%y'`
mv test test.$dateholder

Notice the back-ticks for the complete date command value.

Again, thanks to all!

Next project - figure out or find a way to implement a secure way (scp) to
migrate these files to either a Linux box or NT 4.0 server (ideally the NT
server) in an automated fashion (i.e. no passwords).

One suggestion offered was to create a no passphrase key, but I haven't
had much luck with that experiment (Linux <-> Linux).
