another X and monitor question

No, unless it's horribly old and you X settings somehow damaged it. ;)

I remember the first time I installed Slackware off floppies onto a
486DX2, after reading thru the docs that came with the "X" set of
floppies I was worried that my monitor would blow up when I tried to
start X. Can't get more newbie than that. ;)
