laptop cdroms



They should be orderable as replacement parts with the correct number.

NEC knowledgebase article 055695 states that the 6000 series uses the
VersaBay II form factor CD-ROM drive.  This form factor was among the most
widely used among a large number of different models. 

Part of the confusion may be that the original CD drive which shipped with
your machine, FRU 136-269134-001A (OP-260-62003), was 6X and is, in fact,
no longer available.  However, it is completely interchangeable with the
newer 10X CD drive, FRU 136-241133-001A (OP-260-62005), which is current.
My understanding is that the 20X CD FRU 136-242043-001A which is intended
for the 6260 will also work in your machine, but I am not sure.
