Intel Etherexpress and "TX Interrupt but no status" error

Sir,

I saw your address on a reply to another poster in the kernal archive:
I have just installed a SAMBA box with an EtherExpress 16 card, and I'm
getting the same error.

To recap: during data transfers, I get a message at the command line
that says:

eth0: TX INTERRUPT BUT NO STATUS

Please answer these questions for me, and let me thank you in advance
for your time.

1. Has this been confirmed as a "double interrupt" problem, and
therefore the NIC?
Should I limit the card to 8 bit mode, or can I fix the interrupts?
2. If the problem is in Linux, is there a patch? Where?
3. I've got some 3Com 3C509-Combo cards. Would a differnet ISA card be
a better choice?

I appreciate your help.

Bill
