choosing base addresses on NICs

FYI

9(?) pin plug - is for an AUI cable, that normally plugs into an AUI hub (a
rare bird)
or to a transceiver. The other end of the transceiver can be either a RJ45
plug for
using twisted pair, or thin net (a small coax based connection, where you
need no
hubs but all machines are daisy chained with the coax), or thicknet (another
coax
based connection), or fiber (for high $$ connectivity, but reliable and no
RFI. Usually
considered very secure). So basically the AUI port gives maximum
flexibility,
but for my house, RJ45 is the way to go.
