Alpha-based Multia Hardware Lockup Problem

Hi, I'm having a pretty debilitating problem with my 233MHz Alpha Multia..
while it's not strictly a Linux problem, I figured that there are a scary
amount of DEC people on this list, so it would be a very good place to start!

The machine _always_ locks up hard after between 1 and 5 minutes after
booting and sometimes will not boot at all (especially after it has been
running for a minute or so). I thought it might be a heat problem, so I
ran the thing with the MB pulled out of the case and a heatsink/fan combo
attached to the CPU heatsink.. same problem. I swapped out RAM, reseated
the cache, disconnected the HD.. nothing seems to help. The machine was
set aside for almost a year and hasn't worked well since.

Little more info on the lock up.. Monitor goes blank and into suspend mode,
Link light in the internal NIC (and a PCI one I installed) goes off.. power
light stays on.. hard drive still spins but there's no activity.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
