Stopping and re-starting Samba

That would depend on where you have samba started from.  If you start it
from inetd.conf, you can just kill -1 inetd_process#.  If you start it up as
its own daemon (standard redhat installation), you can use the init script
in /etc/rc.d/init that responds to start, stop, restart, reload.
