My experience with Redhat 5.2 FTP install using Thinkpad 560

Mark-

I had the same experience when installing redhat 5.2 from rufus.w3.org.
It took about 3-4 tries before everything went ok. You definetly cant beat
those connection speeds, though.

As far as startx causing the screen to go completely blank, you might try
pressing "ctrl-alt-plus or ctrl-alt-minus' after it goes blank. Its
possible (although unlikely since you did the config yourself) that X is
driving your display at a higher resolution than it can handle. That
command will cycle through video resolutions, and you can stop once you
find one that works.

Hope this helps...
