A person's ability to use a domain name often depends on the
trademark rights held in that name by other parties.  "Cyber
squatters have found that registering someone else's
trademark doesn't pay.  More importantly, some businesses
have found that their legitimate use of a domain name has
resulted in an unforseen trademark dispute.  This
lecture, reviews basic trademark law and how it interacts with the
Internet and the policies of Network Solutions, Inc.  Methods for
avoiding liability for infringement and protecting your domain name are
reviewed and some of the more interesting disputes regarding trademarks
on the web will be reviewed.
