robots and linux

OK, I am interest in pointers to everyone doing robotics
with linux (in part, since I am trying something like this
myself). I have been stumbling along hit-or-miss,
but I have one web page to company out in Calif. (which
describes the wonders of their linux robots, rather than
the how-did-they-do-it ;)

While I would not mind more pointers to more companies,
I would like to see how others have mangle the kernels (preferable 2.x)
to this end.
