Linux/Unix Cafe & Holiday Gathering

Linux/Unix Cafe & Holiday Gathering

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8th -- 6:00 P.M. - MIDNIGHT

Join us for our first Linux/Unix Cafe, an Open House for the BCS
Linux & Unix User's Group. Hang out, chat, browse the Web, tour the
BCS facilities.

You'll get to see different distributions of Linux running on computers in
the Resource Center, among them: Slackware, Caldera & Debian. There will
also be Professionals & Programmers in attendance.

As a special treat there will be at least one Real, Live END USER for this
cafe will be on exhibition! :-)

Refreshments will be available, but contributions of food or non-alcoholic
drinks will be appreciated & provide more variety. It will also get
everyone thinking about the 2nd Annual Barbeque! (Remember -- the warm
weather is only 180 days away!)

        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Linux is a UNIX-like operating system built around POSIX standards. From
its inception less than four years ago, it was developed over the
Internet by a group of people who (for the most part) have never seen
each other, and now runs on an (estimated) 1,000,000 computer systems.
The operating system (and the source code for it) is free to anyone who
wants it. This is probably the largest development project ever
accomplished using the Internet.
