Msdos hidden files viewable from linux?

I wrote a patch against 1.2.xx that makes DOS hidden files show up
as dotfiles in Linux.  It is on several ftp sites and at it's home,
http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/albert/linux.html or some such.

The port to 1.3.xx was almost done when my disk failed, (and fried two
controllers!).  As I am too cheap for a tape drive, the update is gone.

The patch works very well and is safe :) but not the most efficient.
