Pentium clock slowdown (old info request)

Hi Folks,

I have a problem with my pentium running linix 1.2.11. My system
clock loses time. I suspect that this may have something to do with
the power saver stuff in the kernel and the bios, but I really have
no idea. (The problem is on the order of hours in a day, as opposed
to minutes in a week.)

I vaguely remember a thread on comp.os.linux.setup a few weeks ago
which may have addressed this problem, but I didn't read it then, and
can't find it now. I could use help on two fronts. The first is
what is going on with my machine and how do I correct it? And the
second is how do I accesss netnews archives for the various linux
groups?

Thanks,
