Tracing the evolution of IoT from the roots of IT

Abstract

“An Evening of IoT at MIT” is a free event that will trace the evolution of IoT from the roots of IT. The evening will include hands-on demonstrations and extensive discussions.

This event is brought to you by the IoT Initiative (http://www.iotinit.com) [iotinit.com] and the MacTechGroup (http://www.mactechgroup.org) [mactechgroup.org]

Bob Frankston will discuss his 50 years online and 25 years of living with connected things from X10 to today's hubs and apps. How do we apply the lessons of the Internet to the physical world and reinvent the world… again!?

Emerson Hsiao, technical lead of Andes Technology's US operation in California, will talk tech for wearables and power sensitive applications. Emerson will show development boards and end-user products incorporating their IP.

We'll raffle off some Texas Instruments BLE SensorTags and recent O'Reilly Media titles as door prizes.
