Summary

An overview of the Zope web content management system

Abstract

Zope is an open source application server for building content management systems, intranets, portals, and custom applications. Zope is written in Python, a highly-productive, object-oriented scripting language.

This presentation will learn about Zope the platform and see demonstrations and hear details about applications that run on top of Zope. Specifically:

  • ZEO – Zope's free/open source scalability component
  • applications that are, themselves, free and open source and available for download at http://www.zope.org [zope.org]
  • applications that are written by end users (e.g., NATO's intranet)
  • commercial (“visible” source) applications including Zope4Intranets (a visible source intranet product) and Zope4Media (recently deployed by Boston.com)

Time permitting we will discuss the future of Zope including Zope 2.x and Zope3 and the community development model.
